International Peace Garden

Founded in 1932, the International Peace Garden is a testament to the enduring friendship between the United States and Canada. Situated in the picturesque Turtle Mountains, straddling the world’s longest undefended border, the Garden stands as a symbol of peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity between these two democratic nations.

Spanning nearly 2,400 acres, the Peace Garden is home to breathtaking landscapes and iconic features. The Formal Gardens showcase more than 80,000 flowering plants, including a stunning Sunken Garden and an 18-foot floral clock, while the Carillon Bell Tower adds a melodic charm to the peaceful setting. The Conservatory houses one of the world’s largest collections of cacti and succulents, with over 5,000 species.

Visitors can reflect in the Peace Chapel, which bears inspiring quotes from global leaders, or visit the 9/11 Memorial Site, a solemn tribute to resilience and unity featuring remnants from the World Trade Center. The Garden also offers hiking and biking trails, scenic lakes, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife, making it a destination for both contemplation and outdoor recreation.

As a grantee of The Tom and Frances Leach Foundation, Inc., the International Peace Garden continues to thrive, fostering peace, education, and cross-border collaboration. The foundation’s support helps sustain this cherished landmark, ensuring its message of unity and tranquility endures for generations to come. Learn more: https://peacegarden.com/
